The WAMA Slow Jam is ALWAYS fun and NEVER intimidating. If you're a beginner, you will find everyone very supportive and helpful. Jamming starts at 1:00 pm and lasts until around 4:00 pm. We have a break at about 2:20 pm for social time and a snack-type potluck. (If you would like, please bring a snack to share.) Also, we have three open mic slots (one song per slot) before we begin the second half.
The WAMA Slow Jam at The Hope Grange is FREE. Newcomers are always encouraged to attend and participate or to just drop by, listen, and check us out. As a nonprofit organization, we graciously accept donations which help pay for the facilities we rent for our events, but they are not required. If you've never attended one of our jams, you owe it to yourself to discover how much fun they truly are. It will be great to see you at our next jam!

WAMA's Slow Jam Chord Pamphlet (revised Nov 11, 2020).
This is a complete WAMA chord pamphlet which contains the tunes we play in our Slow Jams.
In addition we will be playing our "Tune of the Month", "Lady Be Good" in G, which is available down below in PDF format as well as an MP3 file of what the tune sounds like:
"Lady Be Good" in G (PDF)
"Lady Be Good" in G (MP3)
We typically play these tunes at around 90 to 100 beats per minute. After everyone has had a chance to take a lead break on it (if they desire), we then play the tune through a couple of times as a group at normal speed. Mistakes are welcome and egos are checked at the door.
